Here's my two cents:
It seemed like a really good idea, until it got to "50 years later".
I liked the idea that writers would try to lead a post-apocalyptic civilization. It'd be interesting to see their ideologies, beliefs, and egos clash as they try to decide the right way to lead the people.
Then a curve-ball is thrown, and it turns out the bulk of the novel will take place "50 years later". The civilization is already set up, and some of the authors are already dead. Instead of focusing on the authors, our main character is instead some kid, who learns the "truth" of his government, or something.
Frankly, I could care less about this random kid learning about the "truth". I care more about the writers and their struggle to create their "ideal" civilization. |
