[UK] Special Air Service Uniform Instruction To: All Operators within the Special Air Service group owned by stealthmatt and under jurisdiction of cooldude215 and the [UK] British Army group. Subject: Uniform Issue and Instructions for use. Effective: Immediately Sections: I - Introduction II - Item Identification III - Usage and appropriate times to wear IV - Penalties for misuse I: As of the 28th March, 2013, the Special Air Service (SAS from hereafter) were issued a separate set of uniforms to use within the United Kingdom (UK) and British Army (BA). The set is of a large quantity with many variants. To avoid confusion, the following instruction has been written. II: For the purpose of saving name space and categorisation, each individual item was given a designator code. This allows an SAS operator to quickly select and wear the appropriate uniform piece. Each item has been coded as such: (Group Abbrev) (Style)-(Primary Colour/Pattern)-(Secondary Colour/Pattern)-(Sleeve Length*) *Applies to "Shirt" items only. For example, a Long Sleeve Combat Shirt in DDPM colour with a solid colour vest would be tagged as such: SAS CT-DDPM-SCV-LS. The following are all the codes in use as of 29th March, 2013. CT - Combat Top CP - Combat Pants LS - Long Sleeve RS - Rolled Sleeve SS - Short Sleeve CW - Cold Weather UT - Urban Terrain O - Olive (Shirt Colour, Kneepad Colour) T - Tan (Shirt Colour, Kneepad Colour) DPM - Disruptive Pattern Material (Camouflage, Woodland, Shirt Colour) DDPM - Desert Disruptive Pattern Material (Camouflage, Desert, Shirt Colour) MTP - Multiple Terrain Pattern (Camouflage, Transitional, Shirt Colour) SCV - Solid Colour Vest DPMV - Disruptive Pattern Material (Vest Camouflage) DDPMV - Desert Disruptive Pattern Material (Vest Camouflage) MTPV - Multiple Terrain Pattern Vest (Vest Camouflage) III: Each item has been designed so that a wearer can either wear what he/shee feels suits both them and the area in which they are operating. Pants are designed to mix with different tops of suitable colour. That said, there are some instances where specific restrictions apply. To be worn when at London: CT-O-SCV-LS and CP-O-O (Winter) OR CT-O-SCV-RS (Summer) OR CT-UA and CP-UA To be worn whenever operating as security for HVIs: CT-UA and CP-UA OR Clothing as required with current on site commander To be worn in Urban Terrain/Counter Terrorism: CT-UA and CP-UA To be worn in snowy/cold/arctic weather: CT-CW and CP-CW OR CT-CW and items that suit the wearer/location. IV: By wearing the SAS uniform, you are representing the best the UK and BA have to offer. As such, there are penalties for wearing/mis-wearing the SAS uniform.
