Nintendo, over the years has been producing many consoles and games. But for some reason, people fail to see Nintendo's merits. Nintendo seems to see what I see in a good game. Games aren't just about watching people die, scream, get set on fire and spurt blood. No, they're not about torturing your eyes. What they should be is fun and funny. We've all played at least one Mario game. It was fun, wasn't it? You weren't just watching endless gore and horror. (Don't see the appeal in that.) You were just having fun. That's right. But some other companies aren't so smart...
Playstation and Xbox LOVE shooters. They'll make their players watch gore, horror and even though they know most shooter players aren't old enough, they just plough on, careless as to what consequences their actions will have. All they want is money. I can't stress how wrong this is. You say watching this endless apocalyptic gore, horror and death is "hardcore", but it's just bad. Not as in when you say "bad-man", just bad. Terrible. Why? What's so great? Why can't we just enjoy our games instead of using them as torture on ourselves, driven by a stupid word?
But Mario games aren't considered "hardcore" because they don't like showing disturbing things. So, is it only Nintendo that realises the games we've been subconciously crying out for? |

There are no decent story-driven or mature Nintendo games in my opinion. |

@Cool
I think it's sort of hypocritical to say that Mario Party is stupid because it has too many sequels, then say that you love CoD. |
|
|
Have been saying this since forever. Agreed. |
|
|
I'm not dogging on it for too many sequels,
Its just that Nintendo makes a whole ton of spin-offs, and their "main series", triple A, whatever games fail to really deliver.
It's not like it's their fault, LoZ games almost instantly get 9's or 10's, no matter how terrible they really were (Skyward Sword), so why try if you don't have to? |
|
|
Anyways, people enjoy shooters, gore and violence because it allows to relieve stress or do something without appearing to be some kind of psychotic maniac murderer weirdo.
And horror is generally for people who get a kick out of tension or some kind of adrenaline. |

@Explicit; There are plenty of games like that made by Nintendo. For example, most of the Legend of Zelda games have intense and sometimes emotional stories in them. |

Opinions differ and fun is subjective
Now stop acting like Nintendo is the only dev that makes fun games

They don't MAKE you, they just make games. If someone goes to a store, grabs a game, walks up front with the game in their hand, and actually buys it; then that's their own fault.
Also, if the person isn't old enough, wouldn't that make it the parent's fault?
You're making it sound like people who play violent games are homicidal freaks, but I've been playing violent games since I was 7 or 8, and I'm perfectly fine. |

Despite my enjoyment of fantasy settings, I don't like LoZ and the story annoys me. |
|
|
Agreed with Meldo.
What I look for in games is an intense and immersive (usually mature and story-driven) experience. Nintendo just doesn't have much in that selection to appeal to me.

Ironically, that's the same company that made Skylanders.

@explicit,
However, relieving that stress gets the players addicted. They play all the time. And I personally, believe these gory games make people more agressive FOREVER. Studies have already proven a rise in agression immediately after playing the games. Probably in a year or two, my theory will be confirmed, and on the news everywhere. There are less violent ways to relieve anger, with less bad side effects, and possibly even good ones.
You could...
Do sports.
Go to the gym.
Go cycling.
Now, you may think there's something wrong with that list. My less civilized self I tend to hide came out slightly while re-reading that, but I stopped it by asking it a simple question.
Why? What's wrong?
And, there was no logical explanation for what's wrong with these less agressive ways.
Now, for horrors... yes, they may be good for those old enough to play them. But like I said, many people aren't. They could be terrified by something disturbing they saw. We've all been scared before. Imagine that feeling, but it never goes away. Life with fear. It's not a good feeling, is it? You don't want it. You don't need it, either. I once got scared by a creepypasta story, it was fun to read but a bad decision. I was never forced to, I chose to. But these young horror game players are being pushed around, running away from a word. "Wimp". I don't play these, my mom wouldn't let me. Why? My own good. She stops me for a reason. Some mothers don't care so much. They let their children run from this harmless word into harm. So, horrors will harm people, and upping the certificates won't work. |
