The most recent rantstorm on S&I is the one about NBC place slots.
And, like most rants, I make a compromise thread, because I know that all the rants fall.
So, rightfully assuming that Ex-BCers won't get thier place slots back, I suggest the following middle grounds:
1) Buying places.
Often suggested, and I rarely see why not.
So... let's say for a heafty price of 100 robux, people can expand thier place slots by one. They can only buy three of these to add BC pressure and prevent infinite places. BC slots exist as long as you have BC.
2) Place parameters.
You get an extra place for having the bricksmith and homestead badges, one for both badges. Repeat badges do not count.
3) Massive increases in place capacity.
Now that a game can have 2.5 million blocks in it, why not increase that even more so people can bundle multiple places into thier game?
4) Rotate rosters.
Rotation is the only way most people will "endure" this; puting places in and out of activity based on a time-period. A roster for this would help.
5) Beta-places.
Places that you can visit, but its creator can't get tix from it. You're allowed one of these, for sneak-peek purposes. |

I especially like 1 and 2.

So far I think its cool.......im not a big fan on the 4th one. I just don't like that idea. like what if I want to go to a certain place but I cant cause the roster made a different game inactive ...to me that seems inefficient. the 3rd one seems like it would be a mess cause well, what if I made a racing game and a super Mario 64 like game.....they would be using 2 different scripts and I think it would be a pain to work that out. 5th one is ok but I think the first two are the best. so...nice job :3 |

I have a question, when U buy OBC or any BC for a lifetime.....do U pay once or multiple times? |
|
EspithelJoin Date: 2009-10-09 Post Count: 20917 |
Lifetime is a onetime perminent payment, but upgrading still costs more, but I think you get a discount but it's not as much as just outright paying for OBC lifetime.
Monthly or six-month is generally the best way to go for BC.
And my thank you for the critisisms mr. tjlnintendo and mtr. Alex.

"1) Buying places.

Why would I want to buy an extra place for a hundred ROBUX? I only have four; besides, a lot of ROBLOX users cannot afford to buy another place for that price. That appeals to Builders Club users.
"2) Place parameters.
You get an extra place for having the bricksmith and homestead badges, one for both badges. Repeat badges do not count."
I'm not sure if that's the best idea. You don't need to earn another place for bricksmith and homestead badges, because they are earned when one reaches the 100 or 1000 visit milestone... that has nothing to do with place slot number.
"3) Massive increases in place capacity.
Now that a game can have 2.5 million blocks in it, why not increase that even more so people can bundle multiple places into thier game?"
That causes lag for people with a lower-end computer. That's a no-can-do, frozengaia.
4) Rotate rosters.
Rotation is the only way most people will "endure" this; puting places in and out of activity based on a time-period. A roster for this would help.
But that's inefficient, you hear?

I have to agree with you here, but it still doesn't convince me to support this thread... |

Why would I want to buy an extra place for a hundred ROBUX? I only have four; besides, a lot of ROBLOX users cannot afford to buy another place for that price. That appeals to Builders Club users. And rich NBCers, NBCers on the front page will be richer than normal NBCers, so if they have got 1000+ people to visit their place I think they deserve to be able to purchase another place, or an NBCer like me that buys robux but not BC.
"2) Place parameters.

You don't need to earn another place for bricksmith and homestead badges, because they are earned when one reaches the 100 or 1000 visit milestone... that has nothing to do with place slot number. Duh, but it should have something to do with the place slot, since it shows that someone actually cares to visit your place.
"3) Massive increases in place capacity.
Now that a game can have 2.5 million blocks in it, why not increase that even more so people can bundle multiple places into thier game?"
That causes lag for people with a lower-end computer. That's a no-can-do, frozengaia. True, but a user should be told how many bricks a game has, if the creator cares enough he can have a dumbed down version of it,
4) Rotate rosters.
Rotation is the only way most people will "endure" this; puting places in and out of activity based on a time-period. A roster for this would help.
But that's inefficient, you hear? Inefficient? More beneficial, say a year was the roter before game where removed, old games would leave high pages leaving spaces for newer users to get on the front page, why pay someone in tix that no longer plays roblox?
5) Beta-places.
Places that you can visit, but its creator can't get tix from it. You're allowed one of these, for sneak-peek purposes."

I like buying places and place parameters. Perhaps they could add more badges if the place parameters were implemented. The other ideas are horrible. |

So you're calling me stupid? Get out if you're going to try and start a flame war.
Besides, where are your criticisms? |

Did you not read the thing? Mine are right after your pointless ones. |

Oh, I found them.
Next time, type your arguments OUTSIDE THE QUOTE.
"And rich NBCers, NBCers on the front page will be richer than normal NBCers, so if they have got 1000+ people to visit their place I think they deserve to be able to purchase another place, or an NBCer like me that buys robux but not BC."
They are quite rare, however. Many would have run low on ROBUX through a shopping spree or whatever.
"Duh, but it should have something to do with the place slot, since it shows that someone actually cares to visit your place."
Just because someone actually cares, it doesn't mean his/her visit has to do with place slot number...
"True, but a user should be told how many bricks a game has, if the creator cares enough he can have a dumbed down version of it."
Did you know that the game already tells you the brick count when you first join it? (hurdur) And let's say you had only one place slot, and you had a detailed version of a game occupying that slot, and you wanted to make a dumbed-down version of it. Can you let that player with the lower-ended computer play while you have a game with great detail? It doesn't work, dude.
"Inefficient? More beneficial, say a year was the roter before game where removed, old games would leave high pages leaving spaces for newer users to get on the front page, why pay someone in tix that no longer plays roblox?"
You need to improve your spelling. I can't even understand what the heck you're trying to say, but I think you wouldn't like it if your favorite game was a first-person-shooter and then it gets changed into a point-and-click game... |
|
|
I still need all ten (which I luckily still have). How does #1 work? I can easily buy 100 places if I want? Or is it "I had BC with 10 active places. For 1000 robux, I can get all slots back."?
And 2.5 million blocks? The game lags out at around 5000 for the game I'm building now (but can't due to risk of losing active places). |

Support as usual, FG.
But...
@jtmt88
"Why would I want to buy an extra place for a hundred ROBUX? I only have four; besides, a lot of ROBLOX users cannot afford to buy another place for that price. That appeals to Builders Club users."
It doesn't appeal to anyone. There's a feature called buying robux and also there's a little something us humans can have called patience. It's only about 4 months per place slot, quicker if your first game gets popular.
"I'm not sure if that's the best idea. You don't need to earn another place for bricksmith and homestead badges, because they are earned when one reaches the 100 or 1000 visit milestone... that has nothing to do with place slot number."
Don't you think that if a user who is NBC makes a popular place who people visit regularly, why would said players NOT want another game made by the creator of that place?
"That causes lag for people with a lower-end computer. That's a no-can-do, frozengaia."
It's not hard or expensive to upgrade a computer.
"But that's inefficient, you hear?"
I'm pretty sure you'd be allowed to change the order.
"THESE are Rhosgobel rabbits. I'd like to see them try..." |

Ehhh...
1 & 5 are the best out of them (though it is refreshing to see a thread actually attempt compromise).
@rocklee
I think he meant the latter.

You do realize ROBUX costs money, right? There's no way I'm paying $100 just to buy more place slots.
"Don't you think that if a user who is NBC makes a popular place who people visit regularly, why would said players NOT want another game made by the creator of that place?"
Because the NBC user would have to take down the already popular place.
"It's not hard or expensive to upgrade a computer."
You do realize that many users can't do that, because the parents wouldn't take the dollars out of their wallets to kick a computer's performance up a few times, which in turn is because upgrading a computer costs more than you think? Thousands of dollars, dude.
"I'm pretty sure you'd be allowed to change the order."
I know, but would you like it if your favorite first-person shooter game was suddenly changed into a puzzle game? |
|
|
I know people who can build a computer that can run most games on medium-high for 3-500 dollars.
Your point is invalid.

You probably come from a rich family.
Therefore you don't know what it is like to be tight on money.
Your point is therefore invalid... |
|

A rich family? BARNACLES NO!
I like to think as myself as middle-class as we can afford nice things and can still afford bills but I don't consider that rich.
