Dynamic Lighting is a good and useful update but as many might have found out that it is useless if you want to make a tube or a giant object light up without missing any part, for example a high-tech Power-core.
Another aspect is the Spotlight....ok it is a 2d shape of a spotlight, but you can't decide it's direction. So users can make spots who look down on the ground or hanging in a corner, because the spotlight still goes over the ceiling. Maybe we should have a property which allows us to change that too.
And another sort of Light, a light which fills an object completely without affecting a blueish or any color affecting the other color filled object. |

Yes. Dynamic lighting has no concept of transparency.
It SHOULD go through transparent bricks, but not go through opaque bricks.
Also, real time reflection should really be added.

Great suggestions guys, keep it coming. |

The light also needs to update itself, if possible, for every small alteration made.
You have to edit a property and then click the game-screen in order to see chances taking place, which is time consuming and very painful to do.

I'd find it helpful if the lighting did not go through non-transparent bricks.

That troll link made me laugh....
OT: I guess dynamic lighting needs more polishing and work especially that passing through 'opaque' blocks issue. So support. |

One thing I can really see the use of for the dynamic lighting is the ability to make more lights with less lag. Now my computer isn't the best per se, but it's better than most off the shelf. I find that when using many, MANY lights in somewhat close proximity (such as building a massive lighted underground base in a pitch black environment), the game has more difficulty registering the lights and the motions of the bricks they are in, in some cases not responding at all. The ability for Dynamic Lighting to respond to the transparency of blocks would also be nice, and is also a good idea. However, I would like to see more lights with less lag if possible.
tl;dr: More lights for less lag. I love the dynamic lighting - it's an amazing update and it has a lot of potential! |
