Can anyone remember what Roblox's aim or was it's aim is? Well it was to build.
Now that building contests are gone they may as well change that. To play.
NO!
I came to Roblox to build, to create. Not to play someone's terrible version of a Minecraft game which has actually no reference to Minecraft.
I'm not saying don't play, do. But the building factor is Roblox is dieing.
Building contests encouraged creativity in Roblox saying to the under-confident. "You can build!"
My suggestion is bring back building contests or don't have the contests tab at all!
The last building contest we had was in November 2011!
Sky Marshall Blitz Battle I think it was.
I'd spend an hour a day perfecting my game for the contests!
It felt great knowing that your creation had another chance to be noticed.
So please listen chiefjustus like you say you will.
Bring these back or don't have contests at all. Whatsoever.

The Contests were flawed.
No one's telling you to play any generic free model front page game, if you want to build, go build. |

I agree, I am also a 2009er and I miss the old contests builders and voters getting special rewards of hats (sometimes even gear) for their work in making roblox active and thriving, I support greatly! |

They had contests for years and they were just great. The first contest had the most incredible prizes, and it really encouraged alot of people to build. Even if the contest places do have free models, almost every game on the front page is free models anymore. And there's alot of ways they can reduce the use of free-models to dis-allow them on contests.

They have promotions and sponsorship's for other companies, but that's the closest you'll get in relation to Contests.
Truthfully I do miss them, but maybe not so many players thought of it as a benefactor for building. Sure it allowed users to express their creative skills to the community, but what was so creative about every place on the Leader board being exactly what we don't want; mimics and duplicates.
If they could bring it back -- but also be able to clean this act up -- then i'll be glad. :D

The contest system was seriously flawed, and the voting was terrible. Free model games were used, people entered empty base-plates, etc. You do not need a contest to promote building. The contests were an enticement for you to enter as they awarded prizes, and you do not need that to build on ROBLOX. ROBLOX does award excellent builders by displaying them on the blog, etc.

YOU DO need to build on roblox. The roblox motto is or was Build anything Be anything. People build same things nowadays on Roblox. It's all competition.

You look at them through rose tinted shades. The contests didn't encourage much building as it did encourage free-model spam, and the voting mechanism was atrocious.
If they bring them back, they should put in the following improvements:
1. Have a limitation to the signups
2. Give voters the complete roster of enlisted games
3. Have some people working at ROBLOX cast their votes in as well (those who get their favor get a special reward)
4. Improve the reward system (Instead of making it all hats and gear, throw in a few R$ too)

Starman you make a good point and I agree. They could also make the voting system better in some way. Maybe make it more like a poll.
