So I'm making a game right now, it's like amnesia... http://www.roblox.com/Activenture-The-Dark-Descent-place?id=15198179 It currently has 2 levels and 3 in making. I was thinking of what would happen if the player died. I have two options for now, can you guys say what is better and WHY add WHY 1. If a player dies, he goes back to the start. Pros: - makes the player value his one life - makes game more realistic - allows more roleplay with other players if your teammates die - makes game overall more challenging Cons: - makes game harder - probable chance to make players ragequit 2. If a player dies, he goes to the nearest checkpoint Pros: - makes game easier Cons: - makes game too easy - lets players redo the area again and again till he finishes - makes game too easy since levels are small please post which should I do any WHY

Make it checkpoints, you can learn to balance this if you put your mind to it. When I play games, and I find a hard hard area that I die a lot in, the checkpoint is usually far away like on Jak 2. Learn from that mistake by doing this. Place checkpoint in places where it is nessecary in a very difficult part, like a section of the game where you start getting chased. If they start all over, and it's a large game than your making people more mad. Don't worry about making it 'too easy' just make challenging puzzles and find other obstacles to add but with reasonable checkpoints near by but not too many.
