Not necessarily, "Lua" can be used greatly to grasp many programming concepts, regardless of it's syntactical differences from "Non-Scripting" languages.

The topic creator is referring to a "Script" from a "Scripting Language", "Booleans" are used in Scripting/General Programming to represent "true" or "false".

""I just meant that because LUA is a scripting language, it has a very different syntax then other more complex languages. This difference makes it not an ideal way to start." Comparing "Lua" as a whole to programming languages such as "C++" or "Java" in terms of usability would be entirely unfair as those languages are very much different from Lua. "Scripting Languages" and "General Programming" languages are considered different for numerous reasons although they both still have an eventual...

It can actually be a very interesting scripting language once you decide to acquire information about it.

That comparison is rather unfair in terms of aspects such as syntax and functionality. "Lua" is a "Scripting-Language" while C++ is an actual complete "Programming Language" itself, "Lua" has many great features and libraries created in "C" enabling it to be used without the presence of another language and a large majority of the core programming concepts can be mimicked using "Lua".

The "Scripting Helpers" Sub-Section is perhaps the Sub-Section I personally enjoy of all, the amount of collaborative thinking and exchange of information between users provides a creative environment for both solving problems and acquiring new information to solve other problems.

Calm down, there's no need for unnecessary aggression, It's just a simple "Non-Aggressive" discussion regarding Lua, after-all. Although, I personally prefer "Scripting Helpers" instead.

Once you've increased your level of experience with working with this type of scripting, do you have any eventual intentions to create the entire base of the "Bot" from scratch without using "CleverScript" as the core?.

"Well, my old one used a similar method to cleverscript, however it didn't work properly and just copied entire threads." Don't worry then, trial and error while scripting helps you acquire new knowledge of the aspect you are trying to develop, It's essentially a puzzling yet entertaining challenge with multiple solutions; Over-all however, enjoy the project you're working on and I would suggest that you make multiple prototypes just to test features to see how well they would fit together or ...

Each user has their own separate level of experience on a specific subject than another user, additionally, each user has their own individual on whether something is "advanced" or not, It's entirely unnecessary to make a thread criticizing someone simply because they have inexperience on an aspect of scripting.

The "Roblox Wiki" can be a very good resource for learning how to "Script", I would suggest starting with the beginning tutorials and experimenting with different aspects of "Scripting" to improve your knowledge and then learning progressively in an order, here's some links to help you, http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=AllTutorials#Beginning_Scripting http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=API:Class_Reference I would also suggest that you don't rush or you may become overwhelmed by the ...

Although there's plenty of users that would be willing to help you, I would highly suggest that utilize "self-learning" instead by examining and applying your own pattern of logic to help understand "Scripting" more clearly. The "Roblox Wiki" can be a good resource for learning different aspects of Rbx.Lua, the tutorials on the "Roblox Wiki" vary in explanation due to the wide variety of writers however it can still be a very helpful resource, http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=AllTutoria...

"my own special scripting language" Well, you may be able to create something such as this using a "complete" programming language. I would suggest that you try using "Lua" if you enjoy the concept of "Scripting".

I would suggest that you try using the "Roblox Wiki", It's the resource with the most information regarding the API of "Rbx.Lua" and the majority of the information works with generalized "Lua" scripting also, http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=AllTutorials#Beginning_Scripting Alternatively, there's also the "Lua.org" online book "Programming In Lua" which is very extensive in covering generalized Lua scripting, http://www.lua.org/pil/contents.html There's also plenty of "YouTube" tutoria...

" people on this game have unusually high standards" I've personally noticed that the "unusually high standards" are one of the significant reasons for beginners becoming discouraged to learn more about scripting, even if something you created is considered "inefficient", typing out something long and "inefficient" that you can understand can in many situations help you grasp the over-all concept and enable you to utilize shorter versions far more easily.

"you can tell by their d00shy attitude" Hmm? "Scripting Helpers" is a wonderful "Sub-Section" in my opinion with plenty of variety in terms of exchange of knowledge and over-all helpfulness, It's the actions of the individual users that determine whether arguments and negativity will occur; The "Scripters" Sub-Section however, has a much higher level of aggression due to the differences in opinion of the individual users as you would find on any other Sub-Section.

Well, "Scripting" itself is a rather general term, there's many scripting languages besides simply just "Lua" and Roblox allows for users to script via a modified version of "Lua" known as "Rbx.Lua". The actual ability to grasp the concepts are also important to take into consideration.
