For solid modelling, a nice feature is that it "smooths" edges when you union a model. This means if you say, c-frame a rough circle, simply unioning it will make it look as smooth as a cylinder mesh object. But, this comes at a price; sometimes when you try to make something that should have a hard edge unioned, the edges get ruined and smoothed out.
I vote for a simple option to 'preserve hard edges' in unions to make it more usable.

Look at the top additions. The first photo shows the wedges with a sharp edge. The second photo shows the edges with a smooth edge. You'd see a bit of shading on the second photo.
