TLDR - ROBLOX has made quite a few major decisions lately without any warning to the general ROBLOX players (e.g. removing six month and lifetime memberships, the continuing of the same events), and this decision-making process **will** cause updates detrimental to ROBLOX, if it hasn't done so already.
I think we can all agree that ROBLOX has seemed fairly distant from its players in recent months; no real announcements of sales until they've already started, few to no public notices or logs on upcoming or even shipped updates to ROBLOX itself, and a steep decline in the amount of any type of blog post. Although these are definitely not ROBLOX-ending issues and are definitely more of an inconvenience than anything else, and it can be argued ROBLOX hasn't had very good staff-player communication in years, it's obvious that it's only gotten worse.
Most recently, ROBLOX removed the option to purchase any type of six-month or lifetime membership in an attempt to boost revenue from membership purchases. However, unlike a minor unannounced site theme update or a game update they didn't make a blog post about, this is a SERIOUS change that affects the real-life cost of membership on ROBLOX. This change wouldn't have been nearly significant, however, if we had been given some sort of warning before this change occurred. However, ROBLOX decided to make this change without informing players about it beforehand, and even now there's yet to be any sort of official announcement of the change.
Their extreme lack of communication only becomes more important when shown how ROBLOX gauges user enjoyment in events. Instead of creating a poll using the poll.roblox site to see what players like and what they didn't, which seems like the best way to see what players actually enjoy, ROBLOX instead completely skips over communicating with its players and instead looks at how many people won prizes during the event to see how many people enjoyed it. On ROBLOX, hats are fairly hard to come by, so many users will play anything to get their hands on free items, whether the event is good or not. Now, whether or not you enjoy the recent events isn't what I'm trying to bring up; the fact ROBLOX has decided that a simple poll to see if players like an event or not isn't as efficient as just looking at how many people won prizes in an event, when an event is essentially the only way for new players to earn free, cheap items, shows how little ROBLOX cares for any sort of staff-player communication.
Whether or not you think membership pricing changes or events matter or not isn't the point. The fact ROBLOX has put staff-player communication so low on their priorities shows that ROBLOX is going to continue to make these significant changes, or form important opinions, without any warning to, or any voice from the community. If ROBLOX continues with this extreme lack of communication, we'll inevitably reach some sort of update that will fundamentally change ROBLOX for the worse that could've been prevented if they had some sort of communication with the community. Unless they start caring about what their players think instead of what they assume they think, things are only going to get worse. |

They could start using the Notification tab in messages a bit more often, and not just for events but updates overall. |

Normally, they use the blog to tell what they're going to do/did, but they haven't been using it recently.

Support, although it might be a little difficult because there are so many players and so little staff |

@Ima
Making something like a blog post to warn players of a major upcoming change, or a poll to see whether or not players like a new update isn't affected by the amount of players on ROBLOX |

I DEFINITELY agree on this. Better communication between staff and players is necessary. If it keeps going the way its been going, ROBLOX might experience its own version of Reddit's AMAgeddon fiasco from a few months ago. |

And it's gone far beyond this including price floors(Which heavily effect features such as clans), the absense of hat mondays and gear fridays throughout 2014 and much of this year and the removal of player contests in favor of contests that promote movies for ad revenue. Profit is one thing and I understand but this game is no where close to what it used to be under Telamon and Eric, beyond just a few UI and graphical updates. |
