I've been doing some reading and thinking on Christian theology lately, and two OOC thread ideas involving the community here came to mind, but one of them will likely only incite flamewars and as such I'll save it for a later date. Anyway, the question I have for this thread is what is your primary sin and what is your primary virtue? The Seven Deadly Sins, in case anyone is wondering, are Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride, while the Seven Heavenly Virtues are Chastity, Charity, Temperance, Diligence, Patience, Kindness and Humility. There's a sin for each virtue, but you can probably tell almost immediately which ones are opposites from one another, and even if you can't, google search exists. The sins that I find that I exhibit the most are Pride and Gluttony, while the virtues that I exhibit are Chastity, Patience, Kindness and Diligence. So, after doing the mathematics, it turns out that I'm not going to be going to hell on the raw basis of my personality! Thank god! Regardless, which sins and virtues do you guys think that you exhibit? I have no idea why I'm asking this. There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold/And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

To be quite honest my sins have to be Sloth, Greed and Gluttony. My virtues are chastity, patience, kindness and humility.

"" Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. " 1 Corinthians 14:34" Two things. First, I never said I agreed with everything in the bible; I just think that the Seven Deadly Sins and Heavenly Virtues theology/philosophy/moral code is a good baseline for ethics. Second, nice suit. There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold/And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Primary sin- pride (wow that's a surprise) Primary virtue- charity Yeah I know there's dumb things in the bible but frankly if we judged every religion ever then we'd all be dead by the time we finish Islam, christianity, judaisim, etc. (need to confirm) teach good things and bad but I choose to focus on the good (giving to the poor, be kind to your enemy, etc.)

Most priests ignore the bad stuff anyway nowadays. Rarely in 21st century Christian countries do I see adulterers stoned to death. There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold/And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Minun, your siggy was strangely relevant-ish to the discussion at hand. There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold/And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Somehow I memorized the seven deadly sins, I would say mine is sloth and my virtues would be Patience

The sins and virtues are character traits in CKII, Vam, which is how I memorized them and what made me think of this thread in the first place. There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold/And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Indeed it would. In fact, character traits are an important part of any game - I once played as a character who's sins and cynicism led to him getting -0.17 piety per month. I was playing as a patrician in Venice in that particular game, and lack of piety led to excommunication which led to me never becoming Serene Doge as that character despite my ridiculously high prestige and 7 trading posts to everyone else's 4. "actually according to the Bible you'll go to hell unless you have no sins at all" Crap. That means that literally everyone who doesn't die in very young infancy will go to hell. There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold/And she's buying a stairway to heaven.

Not true about if you have any sins, you will go to hell. The entire thing about Jesus was forgiveness of sins... That's kind of why Christianity spread in the middle ages. It supplied a promise of peace and forgiveness. Even if you were sinful, you could still be saved. That is WHY it spread in the first place. It was also SUPPOSED to express tolerance and understanding, but people forget about that part and insult Jesus by being cruel and intolerant. Moving on, my sin is probably wrath... normally bottled up, but when it comes out, I lose it. My virtues are charity, patience, and kindness.
