Hence the name, this is would be a new surface that would be used to make certain parts of a part invisible. How would this be used? Let's say you're in a house. In normal gameplay, you're not supposed to see outside of the house, but the outside of it still renders causing lag, so you could change the outside surfaces to invisible so it wouldn't render and prevent lag, without making the entire house invisible. Now, you could put a decal on an invisible block, but this is just more convenient and not as laggy as decals either.

I'm not sure if that may turn out well. Let's say the Invisible Surface has been applied to the house. You're inside the house, then you decide to walk outside. [!] In normal gameplay, apart from windows, the inside of the house still renders and is visible when the outer-most surfaces are set to "Invisible", because it's like how decals don't work like stickers on glass. The outer-most surfaces of the house don't show, but ( with ROBLOX's current Rendering Engine ) the other sides of the bricks are forced to show, unless of course, the rest of those sides are set to "Invisible" as well. Apart from that, the inside of the house will be visually-exposed when it's viewed from outside. I may be missing some info, important factors or anything else, but this is just from my experience with bricks.

You can already do this, you get a brick to the desired size, and set it's transparency to 1, so it's completely seethrough. bottle bing ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)

@Berri "In normal gameplay, you're not supposed to see outside of the house" @Gorw If you would read the actual post, I know that. "Hence the name, this is would be a new surface that would be USED TO MAKE CERTAIN PARTS OF A BRICK INVISIBLE." ------------ If anybody is curious as to how this would look, then go into studio and put a decal on an invisible brick, then view it from multiple sides.

@Billa Laggy and not as convienent @Man No it isn't... I can set the transparency on a block, but I want to make certain parts of a brick invisible! Why don't people understand this?!

"Laggy and not as convienent" You realise that this new surface of yours will be just as laggy Sorry, my cat typed thatㅤwww.roblox.com/--item?id=306284304

@Billa How is this going to cause lag at all? If you set a surface to invisible, then the side with the invisible surface won't render at all, causing less lag. @Dev Before you say "use decals", read the freaking post.

how can decals make blocks transparent on one face. don't see any problems with this. could be mildly useful.

So a surface option like 'Hinge' or 'Weld' that makes a single face transparent? sure

You can already do this. Put a decal on one side of a block and set the block transparency to 1 Then put a script in the block that changes the side the decal is facing to. "There's candy in the white van kids!"

I know that already, you idiot. Read the freaking post! Decals are laggy, but if you set a surface to invisible then the side won't render reducing lag.

Guys, what he means is an ACTUAL lag reducer. It should probably be inplemeted for all games too. He means that when you cannot see certain bricks, they should be "removed" from the game, and when you are able to see them again, they are rendered back. For example: I walk into a house in a game on roblox. There are no windows in the room I am. Now, the blocks outside of the house I cannot see should be "removed" from the game, thus reducing lag. »»» Eyes? With pride. Eyes? With Pride. EYES? You can use decals for this. Haha, sorry, I'm just sporting with you. I am terrible at Studio, (I mostly use models), so I cannot say anything about this. If it will reduce lag, then support, I guess...

@Shadow Nope, it's just a surface that reduces lag by not rendering the surface it's set to, using less resources. ---- Because of ignorance, I reposted this with improvements... http://forum.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=179165698
