(Yup.)I hand over the money and nod my thanks as I take the platter and ale, walking back over to Ranstin and sitting across from him."Leaving after we eat?" I ask as I begin to work on my meal.

"How much are we getting paid for this?" I ask. I say 'we,' I feel like Ranstin's going to take a bit of my payment as some kind of founder's fee. Maybe I'm wrong. I take a sip of my ale and continue eating as I await an answer.

(Yup. The Roblox mods were nice enough to censor the post that got me banned so that I don't get offended by my own post.)I doubt any of the villagers managed to hurt the katakan. Even if they did, it would've healed up by now. So looking for a blood trail won't yield anything useful. As I search around, then, I look for any footprints or a peculiar scent.

You swing your sword in a wide arc, your sword coming into contact with one of the nekkers, dealing a deadly blow. It was stunned, however it was not yet dead. The other nekker you intended to hit jumped out of the way at the last second. Now, the other nekker who had recovered from Aard, was ready to attack. The Nekker jumped at you, intending to make a quick hit-and-go.

(I'm back. Had gotten my wisdom teeth out and it had caused a ton of issues. I'm back now though.)You search around for any tracks. You eventually find some tracks, large enough to fit the description of a Katakan.

You spot Ranstin sitting over a plate of dry deer venison and have-eaten bread. He spots you out of the corner of his eye and motions for you to take a seat across from him.

That should be enough to even the odds. I remain in my Yrden trap, casting Igni at the nekkers in an attempt to bait them into the trap.

You follow him and arrive at the village leader's house. You head back around to the garden, where the man is tending his crops. He turns as you enter."Are youse the witcherses?" he asks, tilting his head.

You go to cast igni, however you find yourself drained, having just cast Yrden. There's no need, though, for a nekker jumps straight at you, its movement slowing down enough once it enters the trap for you to react accordingly.

Thought he was going to be a little child. Guess that proves me wrong. He can't be much younger or older than I am. Well, hopefully he won't get in the way. Hatchets aren't particularly useful for monsters; or any somewhat-trained mortal for that matter. I pull back on the reins and stop my horse.I dismount and draw my silver sword as I walk at a fast pace towards the man and the Nekkers. When I'm within range, I cast Igni at the Nekkers in an attempt to pull their attention away from the man and towards me.

Losing weight? If this katakan's enough of a problem to warrant hiring a Witcher, then it must be getting enough blood and nourishment to sustain itself, and its weight. Maybe the sun was starting to rise at this point in time, and the katakan was growing weaker. That wouldn't explain the tracks disappearing completely though. Beast might've taken precautions to hide its tracks. The sun hasn't gone down completely now. The katakan shouldn't be prowling at the moment, but hiding in its cave. If the tracks have stopped here in the woods, that cave might be around. I search the general area for anything that might point me towards the katakan's lair. A scent, strands of hair caught on trees, anything.

Peasant. Probably doesn't have much in the way of crowns. Won't do me any good to help her. Of course, if we're going out to hunt a katakan, I could use a morning warm-up. Taking on a few child-snatchers would be good for that."We'll be back," I say to the woman, getting onto my horse and starting to ride down to the bog.

"That's fine," I say, accepting the price. It's better than 250, and I'm not too entertained by continual conversation with this man."Where did you last see the katakan?"

I doubt the Venecvar is just a book with a little bit of information about the Ahern. It's got to be something more than that if that Peder thinks it's enough to help them deal with the Ahern after leading it here. Maybe it has magical properties. "Tell the whole truth."

"I wish I could, but every time the book is opened someone is taken from our world and transferred to the sheets of the book itself. It is irreversible, and many of my ancestors are trapped within the sheets because of this. With that being said, the details of the book have gone stale in my head; that is all I can tell you," Yunith said with a certain sincerity that confirmed that his words were true. "Why are you telling us this? Do you expect us to join you?" Ranstin asks in a simple manner. Yunith was ready to answer but the impatient sorceress was faster. "We hope you will, otherwise the frontlines of our force will be the two boneheads with sharpened sticks," she scoffed, referring to the two twins.

You stow your new belongings in your horse's sadddlebags as set off toward the Eastward village. After riding a ways into the afternoon with no issues, you and Ranstin can see the village in sight. "We're lucky to have made it here with not issues," Ranstin states as you two stow your horses in the stables. "Would you like to meet with our contract issuer right now?" Ranstin asks once his horse is properly fed.

I nod in understanding and approach the straw bed. Not the best thing in the world, truly. That's okay though. I remove my swords and set them beside the bed. I then go on to remove the majority of my armor, leaving only my shirt and pants on.Then, I crawl into bed and close my eyes, drifting off to sleep and getting my much-needed rest.

People are... put in the book when it's opened? That's rather strange and dangerous. I don't know if I really want to be around when that book is opened, though I can think of far worse places to be trapped than within a book's pages. The Katakan isn't real, though I still may be able to collect on it if I can get a fake Katakan head. This I've thought of already. But, maybe I could put a bit of extra coin in my pocket by helping out around here. Besides, if this being they're talking about is as bad as they say, it'd behoove me to help get rid of it. "Witchers don't work for free," I tell the sorceress.

"You didn't offer a price either," I say to Yunith. I'm not sure I can name my own price either. Never dealt with a being like this one, never even seen it before. I don't know how much its head's worth.
