Before you type away your insults, take a moment from ignorance and think. Yes, In current times we have luxuries and liberties they certainly did not; however that does not mean we -must- have the aforementioned to live. In the middle ages, so much beauty was waiting to be discovered; the night sky was beautiful, fresh air, and so many things you could be. Yes there were servants and serfs; however they did not all suffer in the filth. In actual fact, they bathed often and enjoyed together as a town. Far better than what you see today. You could actually sit in a chair, and look off towards the forest at night with little to no worry of some nuclear blast killing everyone on earth. A hard day of work, a beautiful nights sleep. No distractions, just the sounds of birds and the wind, as the nice breeze sweeps through your house.

"You could actually sit in a chair, and look off towards the forest at night with little to no worry of some nuclear blast killing everyone on earth." you can do that now if you're not neurotic

My favourite era would be one of the shortest ones, the Napoleonic, muskets are my favourite type of weapon and will never not be.

Yes, life was truly grand being apart of the large peasant masses and living in straw-roofed shacks. Vote El Presidente, or else. http://www.roblox.com/Charming-Brian-item?id=296412307

@Sir I like the Napoleonic as well, but my favorite has to be the Tudor period. @Noochy Many houses still use straw, because it worked. A lot of houses were made of wattle and daube; and still survive to this day. Don't underestimate the peasants, they are a lot smarter than you think. They had to figure everything out for themselves, and had to do all the work themselves. A thing people today rarely get to experience, but it is truly an enriching one.

I wasn't remarking that the peasants were stupid. I was talking about how life was miserable for them. Vote El Presidente, or else. http://www.roblox.com/Charming-Brian-item?id=296412307

@Perpet Cheap tablet I for a year ago, as a matter of fact. I didn't get my first cell phone until I was twelve; and it was a flip phone, only because my mother needed to get ahold of me. This tablet serves the same purpose; only I keep manuscripts and the like on it for research. @Noochy It was miserable only if you think that way. I mean, to todays standard yes. But that's all they had, so they made the most of it.

@Noochy Because I am a stargazer, a lover of authenticity and the toils of earning my worth. I would gladly live back then for the sole purpose of getting to till the fields, no matter how tiresome. Aside from that, there is a high chance of being in service to a local nobleman or knight, and getting to march for many leagues to meet your opponent in battle. Open battles were not common, but long drawn out sieges were more favorable.

You worried about plagues, corrupts kings, inquisitions, famine, fixed social classes, unhygienic practices, low life expectancies, terrible child mortality rates, and paranoid superstitions that lead to false accusations and live burnings of others. Yes, the middle ages were fantastic.

The Middle Ages would only be deemed fantastic if you were a wealthy knight or king, even then you had to deal with a 101 fatal infections that now are treatable with antibiotics.

@Mad "fixed social classes, unhygienic practices, low life expectancies" Guillaume Tirel, Ralph (???,). Richard Sale, etc all went from peasants to knights, and knights were even commoners to a degree, so that's false. Few unhygienic practices yes, but again they did have some thst were good that live even to this day. There were even codecs written about hygiene. The low life expectancy is debatable, because Moses was "500 years old," and they did not have a calendar like we do now. Timetelling was also done by the church, and it varied throughout the year, so that's not 100% true either.

#182927722Wednesday, February 03, 2016 9:51 AM GMT

A handful of people becoming higher-ups does not change my point. And the unhygienic practices were often the cause of many spreading diseases. The complete lack of knowledge of bacteria and viruses made it impossible to discern the cause and continued living in close proximity and making it worse. And why are you using "moses"? Even if, lets say, he did live "500 years", he has nothing to do with the virtually everyone else in history before modern medicine that have died before age 40, or even 30.

#182927766Wednesday, February 03, 2016 9:55 AM GMT

@Mad Again, the 30-40 is debatable, at least by the data I've thought of. I'll concur to the unhygienic practices, and about Moses I could not think of a better analogy. He did not live to be 500, the years were perceived a lot shorter than now, that's why I stated that. There were no legitimately set years until a lot later, and again the church having an irregular prayer time helped make it so.

@Khaan Apparently I make a lot of people "cringe" because of my ideals, and due to the current slang spread about by teens. It irritates me that people say such a thing unless you physically perform the action. Someone breaks their face? Suitable for a cringe. I will go on about slang on my own time.

@Red Oh that's self explanatory. Chivalry didn't even exist between knights; it was derived from "Chevaliere;" Horse Soldiery. They didn't have constables, sheriffs and etc for many, many years. Sure there were guards, but I bring up sieges once again.
