I should learn how to use blender for this coming update Guns, swords, and other smaller intricate models can be more detailed. Even now with CSG, there is no excuse to have low quality gun models. The coming introduction of mesh parts propagates this further.

basically you will be able to upload your own meshes and before CSG, around 2014, guns were limited by part count, so even the most higher detail gun models at the time were about 120 parts at the most, with the average being around 75 with the introduction of csg and featherweight parts, the ability to have high quality models without lag was possible however even now, most clans do not have csg in their gun models, or lack the efficient use of it and keep the designs that existed in 2013 and 2014. the coming update of being able to upload your own meshes will allow models to become even more detailed, but i predict most clans will stick to their 2013/2014 style (low detail, blocky) weapon models, even though it is possible to go above and beyond that standard

yeah clans are definitely lacking in how good guns look i dont know any clans w/ actual hot guns (that are csgd) besides FEAR

FEAR has nicer models than most, and it is one step ahead regarding weapon models as compared to the general population of clans

I don't think a lot of people understand exactly what meshes are. Do you see those guns in every AAA shooter ever? That's a mesh. See the grenades? Meshes. Every character and somewhat intricate prop? It's a mesh. Only on ROBLOX do we use individual blocks to build things. It's inefficient and more resource intensive.

You may be thinking "Oh CSG models, lag" actually what contributes to lag most of the time is the physics behind it by having the collision fidelity to box, cancollide = false, proper welding no lag

its not that people cant make high quality models its that people dont know how to handle them, with the mindset of csg guns always being laggy, when there are ways to not have that with box collisions and proper building techniques

@tox to be fair, in this particular case, guns HAD to be low-brick count for a long time because anything of high brick count would lag the server into dust. it's a stigma that's lasted for a long, long time because it's just an "accepted" fact that lots of bricks in guns = lag. guns can be more detailed now and eventually clans will catch on those who innovate in the meanwhile have the upper hand

What HeroMaster said is right When you look at my TRA Rana gun models, which i open sourced when making Rana free, the models were at most 100 parts, with most being between 50-75 parts This was before CSG. Many clans had the same mindset as I did when I was working for TRA on Rana, but the introductions of featherweight parts, csg, and now meshes allows clans to go way beyond the standard of 100 parts on firearm models however many clans dont take advantage of it, and either dont use any of those updates, or do not fully utilize the updates to their max potential
