Email is typically not a good idea since they can fall victim to the same type of "hacking" a ROBLOX account can.
Your phone would be the best option.
I've already mentioned in the OP that the entire thing should be optional; you're not required to use it.

Let's say you're account is already compromised; they already know your PW and they just changed the mail on your account. Now what? You're completely locked out of your account until you get help from ROBLOX support. Even if you managed to get back into your account, said person just stole all your valuable limiteds!

2-step verification can stop the person from getting on your account in the first place.

If you went to settings you'd see yourself, your mail is blocked out so unless you told the person your mail you're fine, you'll receive your account back, although yes you can lose your valuable items. |

It's possible, yes. Nothing is 100% secure. But it's definitely a lot more difficult than breacing into your mail and not many people if anybody at all on this site has the skills or resources to do it.

Being verified with your mail doesn't stop the person from getting on your account in the first place. This is the WHOLE point of two-step verification. It stops the intruder from even accessing your account if they managed to somehow figure out or acquire your PW.

SMH, people are not supporting simply because they don't own a phone.
You guys are being really selfish. There are people who do and people who would love this. It's not a required thing either, so it's not like you're going to be affected if you don't have a phone either.

people with lots of value on their account would love something like this because it'd prevent a few exploits. i've always been worried about one day getting on and not having any of my items.

There is more than simply PGing and/or giving away your own PW. The richest users get targeted for phishing or database leaks (Linkmon99 & Shedletsky have both been compromised this year), and sometimes the victims have absolutely no control over it.
I don't see why this shouldn't be added, because the attackers almost always benefit out of it by selling the items in the black market before getting deleted.
At the very least, it should be optional because ROBLOX has a much older audience who values their security and belongings. This would greatly reduce the risk for users who are potential targets to these attackers.

toontown rewritten has 2 step authentication and that's a kids game too lol
also, it does work and usually how mass scams work is they spam links to a website where the people put in their PW
if the hackers can only put in the PW and not get the PIN, they can't get it
so yeah, it does work and most people are smart enough not to give out their PW
there's literally no reason not to add it

you don't have to enable it. if you don't have a phone, then you don't need to enable 2 step verification
email can work so yeah if you want we can make 2 step authentication for email too |

i always have my phone in my pocket so

usually you're given a recovery code to write down so if you lose access to your phone you can get back in
also, change your number in settings?
