Bruteforcing the site to break into an account would not work.
What's the minimum PW length these days? 8 characters and at least one of those must be a number? That means there are 36^8 possible 8 character PWs, or 2821109907456. Now let's take into account captcha - this triggers after more than 5 failed logins. Computers are unable to solve these. This means that the bruteforcer must have access to 564221981492 different proxies, or do it by hand. Considering that IPV4 is very much the standard right now, meaning that only 4,294,967,296 devices can be on the internet at any one time, we're going to have to assume that our attacker does not have access to a botnet bigger than the entire internet.
This means that he will have to input every attempt by hand and fill in the captcha. Let's assume he's a fast typer and only takes 5 seconds for each login attempt. Oh look at that, he'd need to spend 14105549537280 seconds on it, or... about 450 thousand years. And that's just for an 8 character pass. When hackers discover the secret to immortality, maybe we can start to worry. Until then? Bruteforcing is not possible on a website. |

@Inter
Bots and VPNs. That's all I have to say to that, lol.
Also bruteforcing isn't the only method. You completely ignored everything else.
And not only that, sometimes bruteforcing can get lucky.

bruteforcing isnt the only way people lose their accounts.
keylogging, pw guessing, cookie stealing, etc.
while it wont stop everyone from getting kl'd, pg'd, or their cookies stolen (is that still even a thing?) i'd feel safer knowing that if someone attempted to log onto my account they wouldn't be able to without needing my phone.

Not everyone has a phone. But they could send an email instead, maybe? |
|
|
But I am 9 and I have my own email.
Why can't we just use emails? Most kids don't even have phones, which means that if I don't have a phone (which I actually don't), then what number will I use?
Maybe we could use our IPs, but then Roblox would be able to get into our computer.
Emails are a lot easier to use, so let's just stick with them. |
