The name basicly says it for those with experience in the topic, but I'll lay out my thoughts here.
So just a second ago I looked in MyForums and saw that old Bubble Particle topic. I remembered my time with 3D modeling a year ago and thought about the Partical system.
What roblox needs is a system that emits particles. Simple enough we have this already. Sparkles, Fire, Smoke. These are all Particle systems. What we need though, is to be able to customize the texture for them.
Look at fire! It's just particles with a decal on them. Nothing more or less. Why can't we change the looks of these particles? They could also have their own properties. The properties (And I'll explain them) Would be
-Life
-Normal
-Velocity
-Rotation
-Randomization
-Texture
-Color
-Shape
So basicly. Life is what it sounds like. How long the particle lives. We may or may not want this for roblox.
Velocity is the speed and direction the particles would shoot out at. If there was 0,0,0 Velocity and 0,0,0 Randomization, there wouldn't be movement after the particles spawn
Rotaion goes with Velocity. It may sound worthless, but since we are dealing with Textures we would need them to be able to rotate a bit. More rotation would mean more spinning of the texture before it's life runs out.
Randomization is the speed of the Particles in any direction. If the particles weren't initially moving when spawned, but there is a normal value. They will fly out in random directions. Also randomized the flow of the particles a bit more...
Texture is the Decal that would be placed on each Particle. Simple enough
Color is well, the brick color if there is no texture. I just said color but there would be Transparency, Reflectance, Brickcolor, ect...
Shape would be the basic form the particle would take. If this is set to anything BUT plain the texture box greys out so you can't use it. This would include..
--Brick
--Pillar
--Sphere
--Flat
--Line
--Circle
Any questions? I know there will be some things left out, as I just scratched the surface...But this would be useful in Roblox. No more people complaining about No bubbles? No more people complaining about light particles? No more people complaing about any kinds of particles? I think this would help out builders.

@Combrad. I looked at your light particles.
I am talking of actual PARTICLES. Could you read the properties again and get back to me? Also, your particles don't really update at all....They are just 3 layers of Billboard GUIs...Wouldn't fufill the need within the community that wants certian particles.
Also, I'd like to add a property. Amount.
This is again, simple enough. How many particles come out within a wait time. I.E. Amount set to 50 means 250 Particles within wait(5)

@ Combrad Yes, but we are thinking of different things.
You are thinking "Oh billboard GUIs, big deal, not that hard to make." And they really aren't that hard to make. Though that's not the suggestion at hand, could you read it again and post again? Thanks.
@ZizZazZus, And I mentioned that. If you decide for it to have a decal, you can assign it a texutre. Your post simply restates what I said, but thanks for the bump.

Randomization should be called "Spread." For example a spread of 0 will make particles in a perfect line, but with spread at 50, the particles will spread all over the place.
Also gravity. Gravity should also be a function of the particle. e.g. Gravity at 300, particles fall at a steady rate which can be useful for sand and sprinklers. |

Also, the particles would be scriptable, didn't mention that before, because I thought people would know that....But you gotta make sure. |

Only one thing in these cannot be done through BillboardGuis and scripting. Rotation. I support this idea, since it's not going to hurt to have it, but it's almost possible for this to be created at the moment. A better thing to do might be to ask for rotation of GUI elements, then ask someone to create the particle system.
And, as not to let you forget, I support this idea. |

Cyrus, it can, particles are a 2D object, you just make a 2D image get smaller on the x axis then larger again with a flipped image and its rotating... |
